Gardening in the dead of winter....

Susanne's Garden Moments will broadcast this Saturday, December 5th at 1:00-2:00 EST. The show is under the umbrella (cute huh?) of The Educational Perspective Hour/Clean and Green. I like that too.

This week's show is Gardening in the dead of winter and even though that may sound alittle impossible, it is very possible because Susanne's Garden Moments is mostly about moments. We all have them, right?

Susanne has a guest this week. Her name is Hattie Elloitt and at 93 years old Hattie will share some of her "moments" growing up gardening and picking. (Hattie received the first Square Foot Garden that Susanne built and planted with the help of friends Danielle and Paul.)

I know listeners will love Hattie. I do. Hattie can give us a report about her Square Foot Garden and the tasty vegetables she has cooked and shared with her family. I hope listeners will be able to hear the respect, love, admiration that Hattie and I have developed over the last couple of months. We have a common thread in our love for gardening, actually we have more. Both of us are quite "spirited".

What else? Susanne plans to talk about gardening during the winter in a couple other topics such as: 1.) Talking about her thrill for leaves especially in the winter, 2.) Sharing about her alternative plan for a Christmas tree this year and 3.) As always she will put in alittle (or big) plug in for the recycling bin.

Sound good? Susanne hopes you will turn in just to listen and meet Hattie. What a delight. I think Saturday's show will be one of those "moments". Please join Susanne and Hattie this Saturday at 1:00 - 2:00 pm EST.

Good morning world. It rained here this weekend so even with the fall coolness, there is such a fresh feeling. I can't say I am feeling too fresh this morning. Ever had one of those morning or moments? I know it comes from something inside of me, I have been thinking alot about it, trying to work through it, figure it out. It is not easy to work through moments alone. Ever had those kind of moments? You mean I am not the only one?

Think about it. Clean and green. That has such a fresh sound to it. I use to remember the phase "being green behind the ears" . I guess that meant that green is some thing that is new and innocent. Humm... new and innocent, now I think of it as something refreshing, there is some thing about feeling new and innocent about anything that I like. What does that say about me?

Clean? That is a good thing too. Right?

Welcome to Susanne's Garden Moment's Blog. Saturday's show was about Fall Gardening and what we can still do even in the fall and the winter in the garden. The topic took a right turn when we started talking about how gardening can be more than about gardens. Know what I mean? We started talking about taking gardening personally and taking responsibility in how we "grow ourselves" to become more efficient in how we think of things....like water and the use of it and the importance of water. I hope the Show was a gentle reminder about water and I how precious water is.

The Show is not just for the listeners. I hope you know that. It made me think about my own consumption of water. Let's just say I was inspired by the Show. You?

This is the Educational Perspective Hour on www.kabf.org and doing this Show is an education for me. I had never really thought much about my garden, even though it is rather incredible. Life has been an education for me, as a single mom, I realize now I used the garden has kind of a secret place to be creative, work off alot of steam and be alone with my thoughts, ideas and "moments". But one does not need a garden to have moments. YOU?

Are you out there? I will leave it at that. Would you like to talk about Saturday's Show? Water? Gardening? Moments? I look forward to hearing from you.
